World Cup Theme Day – 29th November 2022

We had our first theme day this academic year 6th October 2022.  The children were treated to a day at the farm.  What a transformation to the dining hall – well done to the catering team.

September 2022 Catering provider is Miquill.

Our mission
We want to give every child a nutritious meal that fills them up and that they love to eat. We want to give them a food experience that rivals the high street and teaches them about different flavours and cuisines from around the world! Lunchtime is a really important time of the school day – it allows your children to relax and socialise and gives them the energy to get through their afternoon classes. We take pride in making this important part of the day the best it can be.

Our menus
Your menu features meat and vegetarian choices which are all freshly cooked with love. We source top quality ingredients from regional farmers to make sure everything that goes into our meals is fresh, environmentally friendly and of course, delicious.  Your child’s health plays a huge role in the way we develop menus and cook our food. We meet the Government’s standards when it comes to food in schools and our menus are analysed to check they are balanced and healthy. We have a commitment to healthy, sustainable meals.
• We source locally and seasonally wherever possible including fruit, vegetables, dairy, meat and bakery items
• We only use Red Tractor assured meat and MSC assured fish
• We don’t use undesirable additives, and limit the amount of fat, salt and sugar in our meals
• We enrich our recipes with fruits & vegetables – even where you wouldn’t expect, such as in carrots in our sauces or fruit in our brownies
• We use whole grains in most cases as they are better for your child’s health.

Paganel School Meal Menu

At Paganel we operate a 3-week rotation of menu (you can download the full menu via the link above).

If your child has special dietary requirements, or if you have concerns about school meals please make sure that the office staff are aware, and we will do our best to accommodate them.

Parents/Carers must inform the school office of what meal pattern you would like your child(ren) to have. For example your child may wish to have a school meal on Wednesday and Friday and you will provide a packed lunch on the other days. The pattern you choose will be entered onto our system to ensure your child receives the meal you request. Any changes to meal pattern should be through the school office. Changes to meal patterns should ideally only be altered on a half termly basis, however if circumstances change we can make a alteration mid-term.

Cost

Years 3-6 are charged £2.55 a day for a school meal.

Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are eligible for Universal Free School Meals, at no cost to the parents/carers.

Dinner money should be brought into school in an envelope, with the child’s name and class, date and “dinner money” written on it. Please ensure it is brought in to the office. Envelopes can be obtained from the school office, free of charge. You can pay weekly, or half-termly, in advance.

Pupil Premium / Free School Meals

We have a new online system in place whereby we no longer need to see any paper proof of benefit. This system is really simple and quick to use to register for Free School Meals. Click here to register.

Registering for free meals could raise an extra £1,445 for Paganel Primary School, per child, to fund valuable support like extra tuition, additional teaching staff or after school activities.

This additional money is available from central government for every child whose parent is receiving one of the eligible welfare benefits. It is therefore vitally important to sign up for free school meals, even if your child is in reception, year 1 or year 2, so that our school receives as much funding as possible.

Once you have registered online you will never have to bring in proof of benefit again as the system emails the office when a family are entitled to Free School Meals. Even if you think you are not entitled to Free School Meals it is of benefit to complete the registration, as if your circumstances change the system will automatically email the office.
